Ferdinand Savour Victory Now in its 13th year the Mercury Music prize celebrates the best of the years music from across the UK and Eire. Since 1997, the Mercury Music Prize has been the UK's number one arts prize in terms of media coverage. A sort of credible Brits in a way, largely distancing itself from manufactured pop glamour seen in other ceremonies. With previous winners including Badly Drawn Boy, Pulp and Suede the standard has been set for todays acts. |

Lives of the Unsigned - Longjetty From the depths of rock n roll in Ingham, the not-so-thriving music centre of Australia, a band has come out to throw a spanner in the works and show everyone what Wes Day and Tom Robson can do. They are an energy-crazed and incredibly talented couple making up the name of Longjetty, with deeply emotional lyrics and amazingly unique riffs that could only be summed up as rock n roll. At a rare moment, Tom takes time out to talk about life, lyrics, and the loves of his life, Brad and Chad. |

Lives of the Unsigned - Genshen Genshen are an indie-pop band based in Brisbane, Australia, with a passion for their alternative early indie music. They mix together their own quirky blend of cocktails with a shot of their indie influences such as Stereolab, a big dash of the pop connection and just a sprinkle of their sonic, electronic sound as though they had come out of a 70s sci-fi movie. Just give it all a shake and you have the uniqueness and delightfully unusual sound of Genshen. Their live performance is fantastically energetic, showing their passion for the organicness of music and hitting the audience with a feel that no CD could give. |
