Using imagery for self motivation and better mental health

First off let me tell you what imagery is. Imagery involves all the senses, visual, kinesthetic, auditory, tactile, and olfactory. It also includes moods and emotions. Imagery involves creating or recreating an experience in your mind.

Parents Regretting Parenthood;More Common Than You Think
Parents Regretting Parenthood;More Common Than You Think
Columnist Ann Landers once did an informal survey of her readers back in the 1970's. The single question she asked of them was: "If you had it to do over again, would you still have children?" A surprising 70% said "no." Although the survey was hardly scientific – she didn’t claim that it was – it was still a strong indication that more couples regret being parents than some of us like to believe.

I’m not gonna say it’s something that many men wonder about. Most likely, they don’t. Some do, however, including me. Are men allowed to be weak? Weakness is really not something you think of when talking about men, whether you’re representing the sex of male or female. It doesn’t really matter. Let’s face it, men are supposed to be the strong sex. That’s the truth!

Don't Allow Yourself to Get Burned
Don't Allow Yourself to Get Burned
I'm not much of a fisherman, but I do enjoy it whenever the opportunity comes my way. I have some friends who are fanatics and occasionally I will go out with one of them. They have nice boats and it makes for an enjoyable day. I like fishing from a boat but the kind of fishing I enjoy the most is surf fishing. I don't do it very often, but occasionally I will take my rod and reel and fish from the beach. Surf fishing, to me, offers a lot more excitement than fishing from a boat. Here you get to stay active all the time. Basically you wade knee or thigh deep out into the surf and cast using a rod and reel. Since the surf is so active, there are a couple of special considerations you have to take care of. It is necessary to use extra weight so the bait will stay put and you have be extra sensitive to your line because it can be hard to tell the difference between a fish strike and the surf pulling your tackle. ****area of confusion with surf fishing v. beach fishing. Aren't these methods actually called "fly fishing?"*** leave out the "to me," this whole article is your opinion. Leave out the "ands" interupts flow bigtime--unpack these ideas into two complete sentences.p.s. do this throughout the article. Of course there are a few things you have to look out for. Sea currents can be kind of tricky in some places and you have to be careful not to get sucked out to sea. Sometimes there will be sea urchins under foot and if you are not careful you can step on one. This can be quite painful. There are also other kinds of dangerous sea creatures. On more than one occasion I have had to dodge stinging jelly fish or get away from small sharks (the sharks were probably too small to be any real danger, but I was not about to take any chances). But there is another danger that is a really sly one - especially on an overcast day. Standing out in the open air for a couple of hours, without very good skin protection, can cause you to get a horrible sunburn. This really can sneak up on you, though. The nature of getting burned by the sun is such that you usually don't realize it immediately. When your skin starts turning red it is already too late. It is very important to prepare ahead of time to prevent it in the first place - doing things like putting on a good sunblock and wearing a hat and other protective clothing. *****I feel that you have two sories in one here. At first you start "how to" for basic life skills. however, there is not enough intro to the seconds part to give the reader a feasible tie in with the first part without having to read the article a few times for understanding. my suggestion is that you tie the two pieces together better by gving more of an explaination on the "Why" you connect fishing with life skills. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Have a groovy day--Holly M.

What is a Disability?
What is a Disability?
I have a friend. No, its not really me pretending. This is an actual friend who has an actual problem that I want to talk to you about. This friend had some serious health issues a while back -- a rather large stroke when she was very young, leading to epilepsy. Still, she made it through the rest of high school, then college. She was tough. True, she didnt make it in four years but in seven. She didnt work two or three jobs to finish in the university, partying all night and going to school and work all day like many students. While I was out clubbing and drinking, she was sleeping the required hours, abstaining alcohol and coffee rather than risking seizures. While I was dating X amount of men, jabbering and babbling to the new toy-boy of the week, she was quiet with her one quiet beau, taking time to speak because of her aphasia.

Falling Up The Stairs
Falling Up The Stairs
There have been a lot of really good movies made over the last several years. There are a lot of bad ones, too. And while I try to simply ignore the bad efforts, I like to take lessons from those which have profound messages to share. Among the more noticeable movies I have seen lately are the Matrix movies. And, while I don't like everything about the series, I have been totally fascinated by the philosophical questions it has posed. At the beginning of the first Matrix movie, there is a scene where one of the female stars is running away from a computer generated Bad Guy. She desperately runs through a building, up the stairs, out onto the roof, and then begins jumping from building to building. All the while, Bad Guy is right on her heels. Then, with nowhere left to go, she spots a very small window in the building across the street. She suddenly makes a mad dash to the edge of the roof, and hurls herself through the air like Superman. Her body flies through the air, into the small window, which is barely large enough for her.

Five Steps to Expanding Your Universe
Five Steps to Expanding Your Universe
We have all grown up in an age where exploration into dramatic new territory has become routine. We have had people travel into space to live for short periods of time. We have sent people to explore the moon. We have built machines to take people under the ocean to live and work. And we have even built machines, as extensions of ourselves, to go to places where we could not go physically, and send back pictures and other data. There is another arena that it is possible for us to explore - one that we can do personally. It requires a "risk-taker" mentality, and an adventurous spirit, and I want to give you instructions on how to get there. I am going to take you on a philosophical journey beyond yourself. This may seem a bit esoteric and mysterious, but humor me for a moment...

Obscenity in Modern Indian Theater
The play's promotional campaign reads, "Persons under 18 years old will not be admitted." It opens to a curious audience, who see audiovisual images so similar to TV and movies, yet very different. Looking at the similar images on stage, and that too adds a 3D perspective to the audiences. Nevertheless, they are disturbed and find it difficult to believe their eyes and ears. This is common with this genre of plays, which are purely for adult audiences due to the content.
