911- Why America suspected Iraq

To the chagrin of many in the public, Iraq was one of the two countries suspected of 911, the other being Afghanistan.

Afghanistan was a straightforward case. During the Cold War, America made use of the Afghans to fight the Soviets, promising them aid in return, which was not to be. America left Afghanistan improvished and poor after the nation’s triumph in the Cold War. This is the reason, ever since the end of the Cold War, the Talibans materialized and have been training terrorists in revenge for the day to fight Americans.

Iraq was in fact seen as a straightforward case too. For those not in the know, for many years now, oil-producing countries in the Middle East have wanted something from America in exchange for oil. They wanted more than money. They wanted weapons as well as support of autocratic countries in the Middle East. Not only that, they wanted America to capture and torture suspected criminals linking back to religious roots, hearkening back to the breakaway of Israelis from Egypt during Moses time of parting the Red Sea. This is the very reason that for many years now, America as well as Britain were capturing and torturing Egyptians otherwise innocent of any wrongdoing.

Under the leadership of Saddam Hussein, Iraq had threatened many times to cut off oil supply to America now, due to America’s support of Kuwait. America does face winter time, you know, and Alaska is always cold. Besides, Saddam Hussein did attempt an assassination of George H.W. Bush when he was President of the United States, with many Americans in the know of this shred of intelligence. This undoubtedly left a deep impact on George W. Bush Jr.

Thus, for many in the public as well as Iraqis, as Saddam Hussein was still heading Iraq at the time of 911, due to his poor record, this led to the invasion of Iraq by America after 911.
