Russell Crowe has reached an amicable settlement with the New York hotel clerk he was charged with assaulting earlier this year.

Crowe allegedly hit Nestor Estrada in the face with a telephone during a late-night altercation in June and was officially charged with one count of second-degree assault.

The Oscar winner was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court and ordered to return on September 14. Crowe has since publicly apologized to Estrada and his family for his violent actions, which escalated after the star failed to get a working telephone line to his wife Danielle in Australia, while staying at the Mercer Hotel.

The actor has reportedly agreed to pay Estrada $100,000.
