At the age of 84, Pope John Paul II has died. He lived in years 1920-2005, was head of Roman Catholic Church for 26 years, giving people hope and keeping the world just a bit better place.

Pope John Paul's mourning rites will now last 9 days. The election of a new Pope will start in 15-20 days. The new Pope will be chosen by about 120 cardinals from all over the world. Most of these cardinals have been selected by John Paul, making sure that his successor will continue his work the way he did.
