Recent study shows that 13% of all the educators in South Africa were HIV positive at the time of the study. Nearly 4000 teachers died of AIDS in year 2004.

According to the study, the highest rate among teachers was found in KwaZulu-Natal province where 22% tested HIV positive.

If this issue isn't addressed now, they could face huge problems in ten year according to The Human Science Research Council. They suggest that teachers should teach near the place where they live. As according to the survey, the rate is the highest among those teachers who are the most mobile - living in one and teaching in another area.
