You can be too old to go boxing, too old to go skiing, you can be too old to even walk, but you're never too old to fall in love. Today it seems that finding love in a care home is becoming a regular occurrence as elderly people are meeting and falling head over heels in love again and again.

Henry Kerr and Valerie Berkowitz

Back in 2010 at the age of 97, Henry Kerr married 87-year-old Valerie Berkowitz. After meeting in a residential home near Golders Green, North London in 2006, Kerr wooed Berkowitz with poetry for 4 years before she accepted his marriage proposal

Mr Kerr told the story of the first time he asked he: "By the time I was in my mid-90s I found that I was looking at this young lady, I fancied her. And quite casually one day I said to her, more out of curiosity really, I said, 'What would you say if I asked you to marry me'? "

"She burst into hysterical laughter, put down her head on the table and laughed till tears ran down her face." Eventually Mrs Berkowitz Kerr said "Yes" and the two married, starting their honeymoon with a walk around the garden.

The pair have a combined age of 184.

Eric Roome and Sheila Mather

Eric Roome aged, 95, and Sheila Mather, 90, lived together in sheltered housing in the village of Youlgrave for three years before tying the knot. It was love at first sight, but the couple said they don't like rushing in to things.

Mather said: "I don't think (age) makes any difference at all, except we probably may not have as long together as we would if we were younger. But as for the time we've got, we're going to make the most of it."

Mather said Roome was "A real man." And that she had always quite liked sailors. When Mr. Roome was asked if age made a difference, he replied "I love her. That is sufficient."

They have a combined age of 185.

Chris Bengey and Becky Dick

Last year an ill, Bill Marshall aged 82, couldn't attend his granddaughter's wedding. So Becky Dick walked down the aisle again at Bill's care home three days later for her wedding to Chris Bengey.

Becky aged 28, said: "It was important he was part of it. He was a big part of my life growing up." Chris who is 34, said: "All of Becky's family wanted to do something special for Bill and it felt like quite a natural thing to do" The second service was a very private affair with  only close family attending.

The couple may not have found love in a care home but they certainly sealed it there. Their combined age is 62.

The World Record

The recognised world record for the oldest couple to marry belongs to a French pair.

Francois Fernandez and Madeleine Francineau were 96 and 94 respectively when they married in 2002.

Their combined age, 190
