Have you recently looked in your trash bin? Well, I did. I live alone and while I really don't think I'm a big consumer of things, and consider myself being on the light side, I noticed that I'm actually able to fill my trash bin within just couple of days. And most of the stuff there are plastic packaging. Packaging from packaged meat products, milk, and everything else you can possibly think of. I wouldn't be surprised if every week I alone managed to create kilograms worth of plastic waste simply from the food products I buy. I could excuse myself and say that that's how the stuff is being sold and it's the companies who create the products who should be thinking about it, and that's all true. But is it all only really on them?

We all have a choice, we all have a choice to choose which products we buy. We don't have to choose overly packaged products wrapped in tons of plastic. We could go to the market instead and buy things without any packaging at all. We could also choose products that use more carton packaging. Evergreen Packaging recently also relaunched an informational website on packaging choices where they explain the benefits of carton packaging. You can see the website at choosecartons.com.

There's something we can all do to be just a bit more environmentally friendly. Recently EcoFocus Worldwide's 2013 EcoFocus Trend Study was conducted and the results were somewhat positive - as it said that 73% of women with kids consider being eco friendly and teaching their children the same a very important legacy for their children.

Being eco-conscious starts with a thought. And continues with action. We can all do that.
