Election 2008: history in the making

If Senator McCain wins, we will not only have our first female Vice President, but we will have the oldest man to ever be elected President.

This election in the United States of America is the most historic in our brief history. No matter who wins the election, history will be made. We will have our first African American President or our first female Vice President. We have never had this in our history. These are just the main stories. If Senator McCain wins, we will not only have our first female Vice President, but we will have the oldest man to ever be elected President. This goes to show how far we have come in our short time as a country. In the run-up to the election on the democratic side, we had two truly historic choices. We had the first African American or the first woman to elected to a major party candidate. On the republican side, we had our first Mormon candidate. This has been a remarkable time in American politics.

After the primaries were settled and the real campaigning started the remarkable history of this race faded into the background. Both parties said they were going to run a "clean" campaign. This idea lasted about 2 weeks and the attacks started. We have heard about, Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers, $150,000.00 on wardrobes, and ethics issues in Alaska. These are just a few of the topics in the election.

Both candidates said they were for change, but we are hearing the same party "mumbo jumbo" and nothing is new. It even went so far that people in the crowds were hollering, "Kill Him, Kill Him" and that Senator Obama was a Muslim and a communist. We have also heard that Senator McCain was out of touch and could not control his temper. Meanwhile our economy is in the worst shape since the great depression and both parties are worried about wardrobes and associations with terrorists from 30 years ago.

This will be a truly historic election and we hope that whoever wins the election will lead us out of this economic mess and get jobs back in the United States and will be able to get us out of the wars with dignity. This election will be historic in two very different ways. The first will be as stated previously, the first African American President or the first female Vice President. The second historic nature will be the reality show mentality of the two parties and the divisive nature of the American electorate. The country needs leadership not sound bites and name calling done by both sides in this election of 2008.
