The word extreme often generates a lot of interest amongst its readers. And when it takes a form by becoming an extremist from extreme, the interest sometimes converges to fear. But, neither is this about the word extreme nor the extremists. How often do we not come across the words "THE TWO EXTREMES"? Miles apart, they present a picture so contrasting that life no longer appears alright for the mediocre.

Ever since I came across the word juxtaposition, which was in one of the documentaries for Shakespeare's "The Tempest." I have been using it quiet regularly. Of course Shakespeare's genius juxtapositioned the thin and airy Ariel with the heavy and groundly Caliban in the Tempest. Pretty contrasting. Placing two extremes side by side, or "juxtapositioning" two extremes has an impact more than a million words. Besides conveying the message, it often leads the reader to much thinking and sometimes analyzing oneself as to where one stands {as in my case}.Of course Shakespeare's not around and thanks a billion for that. Otherwise, we all would be saying "How thou doeth" instead of the lovable " how are you doing".

Coming to the extremes which life has to offer, the extremes exist sometimes due to culture, religious beliefs , mentality , habits and what not. With due respect to the one who wrote it and unfortunately I do not know the person's name {or maybe it was an unknown sender}, I was once going through the "Letters to the Editor " section of one of India's famous biweekly India Times. There juxtapositioned with a clip from a lingerie show in Mumbai were the following words {precisely do I remember} ....... The words, referring to India were

"In this land of extremes, there are people who do not have money to cover themselves, and there are people who spend Rs. 2500 on something that covers nothing!"

Don't you think it applies to the whole world as well, of course with the currency changed?

Another extreme which often hovers around my mind {I am sure it hovers around every other person who has seen a Muslim lady in full Hijaab}. There she is, trying to protect every single part of her body from the hooligans {who have no other work than to stick out their tongue at everything}.We also have people who wear low bottom jeans, hip hugging clothes , T's which leave nothing to the imagination. Of course it's not the extreme as of now, the latest revolution "NATURISTS" is still to come. That makes the two extremes. Very contrasting and lo! We have extremes again.

Of course a lot can be said and opined about on this but I guess would be better posted in the religion section.

Coming to some other extremes and since we have an entirely different section here for Extreme sports, let me just point out one. There are some who would dare not sit in an aero plane for the fear of crashing and all the G's they would have to handle. And there they are, defying all limits, air borne, divas and what not. Hmm, you find it contrasting till the time somebody takes you up while you are asleep, and wakes you up just before giving you a push without a parachute. You go down, with your head headed towards ground, eyes popped out and your heart in your hand instead of the chest just to realize your legs are tied and you won't bang! Extremes do exist in every aspect of life, be it habits, way of life or whatever. Anybody catching hold of any side of the two extremes ends up only being on one side of the extremes and not being an Extremist because one has to resort to extremism specially in politics to be called an Extremist!
