Salvatore Ferranti, who weighs 462 lbs, was accused of having dealings with the Mafia, but a court ruled he could be put under house arrest after he was declared too fat for four separate prisons.

Guards at the first two prisons said they were constantly helping Ferranti dress, undress and go to the toilet, with guards at the other prisons said there was no bed big enough for him, and he couldn't get through the bathroom door.

Ferranti has been accused of being a member of the Mafia once headed by Salvatore Lo Piccolo, who was arrested last November.
