David Packer, from Manchester, lost the dentures while walking in the Lake District in January 2007.

He removed his teeth to eat a chocolate bar at the top of a well-known summit, but left them behind when he carried on his journey.

Last month a fellow hiker found the teeth and put an advert in a walking magazine - and the owner spotted them.

He said: "I opened the magazine and saw a picture of my plate looking back at me. I couldn't believe it." "I had visions of a sheep wandering around with a set of my shiny teeth - I never thought I'd see them again."
