London, Nov 23 : A computer has been designed by which a mute person can spell out his or her words - just by using an eye.
Eye-Gaze system, which is worth 14,500 pounds, is developed for fighter planes. This system uses five cameras to track a person's retina as he or she stares at letters.
Then, a computer voice reads out what the person has "written".
A group of Swedish scientists have designed the computer that will let a paralysed man let spell out his words.
Steve Charles, a 44-year-old man, has not been able to move his body since he had a brain haemorrhage while walking in the mountains.
However, he can move his left eye from side to side.
The system was designed for patients who were able move both eyes, but it was specially adapted for Charles.
"This'll be so liberating. The most difficult thing is that he wants to communicate with us, but he can't," The Sun quoted Charles' wife, Sarah, as saying. (ANI)
