P. Diddy and I are about to throw down. I am 23 years old. This will be the first election in which Im voting. I know it is my civic duty to vote, and I also know the seriousness of the upcoming election. I get it already. Vote or Die. I do not need additional dogma shoved in my face everywhere I look.
I stood silent with the self-indulging interviews and the uneducated spouts of verbal dribble that I am forced to listen to and read everywhere I go. I understand the T-shirts and the 'get out and rock the vote' gatherings. I mean who cares if the people are actually educated about the issues, as long as they vote for the guy you want, right?
I dont usually complain about things that I cannot change, but I stand silent no more. I dont have many pleasures in life. One of my 'secret shame' indulgences is The Real-World Philadelphia. I cant help it. I am part of the MTV generation. Its bred into me, a modern version of mind-control if you will.
Which brings me back to my original statement. Tonight, as I was catching up on the past couple of episodes, the aforementioned super star and his merry band of annoying friends continuously interrupted them. They were telling ME how important it is to vote, when pretty much none of them has ever voted before themselves. I dont care when its on a commercial or a news report. But no! Its every time something good happens. Im too cheap to rent straight up porn, people. I am tired of my regularly scheduled program being interrupted by stars that have more money then they know what to do with. I know that really has nothing to do with what Im talking about, but rich people piss me off, considering Im broke.
So heres my message back. Get over yourself. We are not retarded. Well some of us are, its genetics, no one can help that. I was watching MTV to avoid the debates on the major networks. I guess religion is no longer opium for the masses, but super stars are. Oh, and P. Diddy, if you interrupt my entertainment again (no matter how shitty its own content may be) with your senseless yammering, there will be consequences. I am a big girl and will sit on you. No more marathon running for you.
