VERSE:

When I was a little girl, the sun was always bright.

When I was a little girl, the sky was always blue.

When I was a little girl, I saw rainbows, rainbows..

CHORUS:

I always thought that life was fair,

I always was an idealist,

I always was a dreamer,

But now I realized, realized,

All was false

(GO BACK TO VERSE, THEN END)

This song was written when I got my first bite of reality. At that time, I was feeling extremely disillusioned. Earning a living, betrayal, broken relationships, money issues.. I suddenly realized I had been a caterpillar in a cocoon.

Many hard lessons were learned. I learned that, in order to tell others of your dreams and to effect changes, you have to show other people you are credible. I learned that in order to fulfill your dreams, you have to work hard and make some sacrifices along the way. I came up with a quote:

Only the people who are not ignorant know ignorance is bliss.

That's the state when you realized how blissful you were as a child, filled with the little things which you didnt appreciate when you were young. Realization hurts. The world is a mad, bad world! Yet, the crux of the matter is, I learned the ultimate quest I have to strive for is to balance idealism with realism. For to be utopian is fatal, to be realistic is bitter. A difficult goal. Nonetheless, it must be attained.

I guess Im no different from you all. After countless trials and tests (if you can say countless, at the tender age of 22), I have come up with this, and I found in it a development that has occurred within me:

Wonder is the sweetest thing,

Innocence is not.

Dreams are sweet,

But must match reality.

Experience is an asset,

Discretion valued.

A formula to live life,

In the least painful way possible.

If I can survive disillusionment, you can too. Dont let disillusionment get you down.
