For this year's hurricane season 18 named storms have been predicted by the storm prediction gurus of Colorado State University. Last year's season was one of the most active ones with third-most named storms on record. Whether they influenced us personally or not, all of us have heard enough about hurricanes Sandy and Isaac. All together last year's Atlantic storms caused over $70 billion in damage and killed hundreds of people. The worst one was definitely hurricane Sandy that caused damages worth over $68 billion and killed 285 people.

This hurricane season's first storm was Andrea that made 1000 people flee their homes. However, this was just the first one. As weather forecasters are predicting 18 named storms, 9 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes. It is estimated that there's 72% chance that there will be at least one major hurricane this season in US.

The names for the 18 storms have been decided on already and they include Humberto, Ingrid, Olga, Bary, Chantal, Erin, Melissa, Tanya, Pablo and others.
