Detective killed by Suspect    2005-04-17 20:19:03    

Detective James Allen, 50, was shot and killed on Sunday at police headquarters in Providence, R.I. while questioning a suspect.  Estenban Carpio, 26 got hold of the detective's gun, shot him then broke and window and jumped through to a service road. He was being questioned about the stabbing of an 84 year old woman.

Chief Dean Esserman would not say how Carpio got hold of the gun or whether there were any witnesses.
