On June 10th The First Annual Vibe Music Fest took off. It’s a festival
put together by The Vibe Magazine, set in Atlanta Georgia.
The
Georgia Dome hosts this event. Sponsored by Burger King, and in
association with Budweiser and Ford, artists and executives (A&Es)
came together to express views and ways forward in the industry. Up and
coming talent were blessed to be in such a position, to asorb all this
knowledge of the music business. Forums and panels were held to allow
those in attendance to interact directly with the professionals.
Business
was'nt the only thing that weekend! There were two star-studded
concerts on Friday and Saturday. Live performances included Ludacris,
Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, T.I., Big Boi, Free, Dougie Fresh, Faith
Evans, Damian and Stephan Marley, with many more! Under the threat of a
tornado storm the concerts were a gift to everybody with dreams of
becoming a professional. It kept no one from speaking and performing as
planned.
After-parties were in full blast, with hosts such as
Luke, P.Diddy, and Jermaine Dupree, bringing even more celebration to
the city. We even had Leadership Parites, led by Al Sharpton. There was
every kind of party you could want, capable of teaching our country to
party! This is the first Fest I've been to with full attendance from
everyone invited. It was The First Annual Vibe Music Fest, and I cain't
wait till next year!
Saving the Tigers from extinction It was a hurriedly organized citizen’s meeting at Guwahati Press Club, where serious concerns were expressed at the increasing trend of poaching and killing of wildlife in various parts of Assam.
The EIP factor - what you should learn from it When we grow older, or get older for the sake of the argument, we tend to start seeing the world only from one side. We tend to believe, no, not believe but know, how things are done. If you are smart, you understand that it shouldn't be that way, you understand this is wrong.
Whether we want to admit it or not, even now, in year 2012, there are still big gender biases in some fields of life. While it's generally understandable that men should do more heavy lifting than women and knitting fits a bit better for the women (even though I am aware even here there are many people who want to disagree), art is one of those things where our gender really should not play any significant role at all. And within the past decade things have started to change even on this front and even on the more conservative arenas such as Bukowskis - the top Nordic auction house.
