The new chief of BBC has decided to say no to new soaps and broadcast more original dramas, comedy and arts programmes.
Peter Fincham, independent producer behind pieces like Jamie's Kitchen and I'm Alan Partridge said that it is very unlikely that BBC1 would like to commission another soap. BBC wants strong and long-running original dramas.
Additionally they also want to put more emphasis on arts, comedy and to invite more big names to the channel.
