Austhor's Home Fetches $3 million    2005-04-18 16:48:34

Despite a battle to preserve the home of Australian author Patrick White as a literary landmark, it has been sold for an estimated $3 million to a private buyer.

The Federation-style house in Centennial Park was the author's home from 1964 until his death in 1990. He was Australia's only Nobel laureate for literature and the author of The Eye of the Storm and The Twyborn Affair.

The National Trust said the sale was a blow to Australia's cultural heritage.
