Turkish secularists mount legal offensive against perceived threat of “Islamic State”
Officials from Turkey’s Association of Judges and Prosecutors (Yarsav) has accused the government of attempting to implement a series of anti-secular policies such as imposing halal standards upon national food production, to tightening existing laws regarding the sale of alcohol. Yarsav believe that the AKP’s ultimate objective is to reintroduce Sharia Law within the Turkish state thus displacing the current legal system.
