British expatriates' wild parties have left Dubai struggling to prevent its Muslim culture from waning, say reports.

Gaggles of scantily clad British women, champagne bashes, and sex in full public view is gradually becoming a trend in the city.

The clash of cultures between East and West becomes evident from the fact that the holy call of the muezzin at the five-star Airport Meridien Hotel's own mosque is drowned out by the lounge music played at dance parties.

Prostitution is also on the rise, with more than 10,000 hookers arriving in Dubai from all corners of the globe.

A club called 'The Cyclone' came to be known as the United Nations of Hookers until authorities shut it down last year.

It's closure, however, has failed to curb the boom in prostitution.

"I was having a drink in a hotel beach bar when this young Russian girl went outside with a Russian holidaymaker. They were 30 yards away. She leaned against a palm tree between the bar and the beach. There were lights in the garden and you could see clearly as they both stripped and had sex," British tabloid The Sun quoted British holidaymaker Michael McCart as saying.

"She was very attractive. Everyone could see what was happening. Even a security guard with a torch walked by the couple, looked and ignored them," he said.

A 32-year-old London businessman in the emirate on a working trip said: "This is the wildest city on Earth - I've never seen so many birds and so much booze." (ANI)
