The Chinese Foreign Ministry has said that respecting the spirit of the Olympic Charter, no attempt should be made to politicize the forthcoming Beijing Olympic Games.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao reportedly told media persons that China will not accept the Olympic Games being politicized.

"The Olympic Games should not be politicized according to the Olympic Charter, and this spirit should be respected and observed by all members of the Olympic family," the China Daily quoted him as saying.

He made the remark while answering a question about a few nations that had linked attendance at Games-related activities with political issues.

Any attempt to link the Olympics to politics or to interfere in China's internal affairs would not succeed, Liu said. (ANI)
