Former World Chess Champion and Kremlin critic Garry Kasparov was attacked by radio-controlled flying phallus during a meeting of opposition activists.

Kasparov was giving a political speech to more than 500 delegates in Moscow when a buzzing noise filled the room, reports Sydney Morning Herald.

A large phallus equipped with dual rotary blades, similar to those found on a remote control helicopter, was hovering slowly towards the chess grandmaster.

Kasparov chose not to engage with the offending object and left the next move to the security team.

A man standing to the side of Kasparov watched the object closely until it was in range and then punched it out of the air.

According to the Moscow Times website, the prank was staged by 'a couple of pro-Kremlin Young Russia activists.'

Blogs covering the incident have compared it to a notorious prank in the virtual world Second Life, where flying phalluses invaded a presentation by virtual mogul Anshe Chung.

Kasparov laughed off the Moscow incident remarking that it was 'below the belt'.

"I think we have to be thankful for the opposition's demonstration of the level of discourse we need to anticipate," Kasparov reportedly said. (ANI)
