A 73-year-old US man is returning to prison after breaking out 46 years ago.

James Albert Morgan from Nashville was sentenced to three years in jail after robbing a business in Chattanooga in 1960, but broke out with two other inmates a year into his term.

After living in Florida for 14 years, Morgan eventually returned to Tennessee, but was picked up in a local crime sweep.

He will now have to serve the remaining two years of his sentence at the local Brushy Mountain jail.
