Senator Hillary Clinton has won New Hampshire's Democratic presidential primary, after beating her rival candidate Barack Obama.

While talking to her supporters Hillary said that she "found her own voice" in the five days since her third-place showing in Iowa, and promised "we are in it for the long run."

"Now let's give America the kind of comeback that New Hampshire has just given me," CNN quoted Hillary as saying.

Clinton won the primary with 39 percent of the votes against Obama's 37 percent.

After the declaration of the results Obama said: "I want to congratulate Senator Clinton on a hard fought victory here in New Hampshire. She did an outstanding job, give her a big round of applause."

There has been a record-breaking turnout, around half a million people had come to cast votes.

Last week at Iowa Caucuses Hillary came third in the Presidential primary.

Obama was leading with 13 per cent in opinion polls after his impressive victory in Thursday's Iowa caucuses.

Earlier, Senator John McCain had won the Republican presidential primary. (ANI)
