New Delhi, June 26 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval for launching a Centrally Sponsored Scheme on "National Project on Management of Soil Health and Fertility" with an outlay of Rs.429.85 crore.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval for launching a Centrally Sponsored Scheme on "National Project on Management of Soil Health and Fertility" with an outlay of Rs.429.85 crore.

A Project Sanctioning-cum-Monitoring Committee (PSMC) shall be constituted for evaluation of project proposals and sanctioning of the funds to the beneficiaries and periodical monitoring of the implementation of the project.

The PSMC shall be empowered to amend the guidelines, decide need-based area specific components / inter component transfer of funds within approved outlay and also approve projects as per its discretion without affecting the quantum of subsidy and the total approved outlay.

The main components of the scheme will be strengthening of soil testing laboratories, Promoting Use of Integrated Nutrient Management, strengthening of fertilizer quality, control laboratories, strengthening of mobile soil testing laboratories. (ANI)
