MNAs belonging to the PML-N have reportedly mounted pressure on the PPP to impeach President Pervez Musharraf, by signing an impeachment motion against the President. They asked the PPP as to why was it being so reluctant to impeach Musharraf when the latter had himself said that he was ready to face such a motion in the National Assembly.

A fresh demand was made by PML-N parliamentarian Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in a parliamentary party meeting of the coalition partners on Sunday, reported the Daily Times.

The same was reinforced by Hanif Abbasi, another PML-N leader, in his speech in the National Assembly. "Why do you not impeach Musharraf when he himself has said that he is ready to face impeachment? What is the problem now, when we have the numbers required for the purpose?" Sadiq asked PPP central leader Syed Khursheed Shah who chaired the parliamentary party meeting.

Abbasi said the impeachment motion against Musharraf would soon be presented in the parliament, and added that the entire nation was looking for the government to prove the supremacy of parliament, which he said could not be achieved without impeaching a dictator and his associates.

Abbasi said the nation was angry to see a dictator still sitting as President despite the clear mandate in the general elections against him and his associates.

The problems of the country could not be resolved without ousting Musharraf from the Presidency, he added.

Meanwhile, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari promised that the PPP would be the party to send President Pervez Musharraf home.

Addressing at a dinner hosted to the ministers and advisors of the Sindh cabinet at the Bilawal House, in Karachi, he said President Musharraf would be given a safe passage at a suitable time and the impression of any deal between the PPP and the President is not correct. (ANI)
