Aligarh, Apr 23 : The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has got the green signal from the Supreme Court to conduct admission tests for its professional courses in Bhopal, Kolkata, Pune and Kozihode also, said a University press release.

There were controversies regarding the legality of this move as the admission policy of the University was bound by a status quo order of the Supreme Court dated April 24, 2006
The members of the university were of the view that it would be a direct contravention of the law that clearly states that all examination of the university shall be held at Aligarh as may be fixed by the academic council.
A three-member bench of the apex court, consisting of Chief Justice of India Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justice R V Raveendran and Justice Mukundaran Sharma, issued the order on Tuesday.
The Aligarh Muslim University was represented by Soli J Sorabji, senior advocate and Ejaz Maqbool.
