Srinagar, Feb 28: Following recent spat over the recovery of explosives ahead of top Indian leader, Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Baderwah town in south Kashmir, senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir police and the CRPF held an extraordinary meeting today to improve coordination between the two forces.
The CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir police had locked horns over whether the explosives haul near the site of Sonia Gandhi’s Bhaderwah rally was set up.
The Jammu and Kashmir police had rubbished the CRPF's claims of having busted a militant hideout and recovery of explosives ahead of Gandhi's visit on Friday.
The director general of the CRPF, S.I.S. Ahmad, director general of the JK police, Kuldeep Khuda, inspector general of the police, S.M. Sahay, IGP operations CRPF, M. S. Gupta, IG CRPF administration, S.K. Jain, and IG CRPF Jammu attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail the steps being taking to promote mutual cooperation between the police and the CRPF with respect to the situation in the state, particularly the valley.
The operational capabilities of the two forces and anti-militancy operation sin heavily populated areas also came up for discussions.
The officers exchanged views about protecting public life and property during operations and not causing harassment to the residents.
The police top brass decided that the role of the two agencies in counter-insurgency operations would be enhanced.
DIG central Kashmir, Abd-us-Subhan Lone, SSP Srinagar, SA Mujtaba, SSP PCR, Shaukat Malik, and SSP Budgam, Aashiq Hussian Bukhari were also present in the meeting. Haamid Ansari, The Cheers News
