Radiohead has been labelled the 'World's Greenest Band.'

Recently, Radiohead's frontman Thom Yorke vowed to decrease the band's footprint after it was shown that 50,000 trees were needed to offset CO2 from the group's 'Hail To The Thief' tour.

NME music magazine commissioned carbonfootprint.com to come up with the rating for tours, from zero to 10, and the band received a rating of 2.

The Babyshambles achieved a rating of four while 'The Police' received a rating of seven.

Doherty's band was rated four because he tends to play in several small venues, meaning fans do not have to travel too far to see him.

And despite Sting's campaigns to save the rainforest and his environmental activism, his band has received a poor rating because of the carbon footprint left by the group's reunion tour.

"At the Live Earth concert in New Jersey where The Police played, the biggest contribution to carbon emissions wasn't from the concert itself, it was the fans," the Daily Snack quoted John Buckley, carbonfootprint.com managing director, as saying.

"The Police played lots of big stadiums - they need to be careful over where they play, and make sure it's near public transport," he added.

Indie three-piece The Cribs was given a rating of four while Leicester-based Kasabian got a rating of seven. (ANI)
