The Spice Girls wowed fans as they kicked-off their world tour in Canada last night (02.12.07).

The band - Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Mel C - performed in front of over 15,000 fans at Vancouver's General Motors Place, singing 22 tracks including their nine UK number one singles.

It is the first time they have performed together as a five-piece in nine years, following Geri sensationally quitting the band in May 1998 halfway through their first world tour.

The girls - whose show-stopping costumes have been designed by Roberto Cavalli - opened the concert with 'Spice Up Your Life', while dancing on raised platforms.

Much to the delight of the crowd they sang all their classics, including 'Stop', 'Who Do You Think You Are' and 'Say You'll Be There'.

During the show Mel B, Mel C, Geri and Emma each performed one of their respective solo hits.

Victoria - the only member not to have had a UK number one single on her own - used her solo slot to strut along the stage as if she were on a catwalk.

Victoria has admitted to being nervous about what critics would make of the show.

She said: "Luck doesn't matter. People will still say we're s**t anyway."

The girls - who were watched by Victoria's soccer star husband David Beckham and singer Avril Lavigne - ended the show with their 1996 debut single 'Wannabe' before a reprise of 'Spice Up Your Life'.

Fans were impressed with the show, with one girl, Marlaine Huery, paying £750 for her ticket.

She said: "I was crying for the first half hour of the show, and I paid a fortune for my ticket but if they come on tour again I would spend it again. They were just fantastic."

The girls continue their tour in San Jose, Las Vegas and Los Angeles before starting a 17-date stint at London's O2 arena on December 15.
