The actress - who has reprised her role as columnist Carrie Bradshaw for the movie version of the hit US TV show - predicts viewers will experience a range of emotions when watching it on the big screen.

She said: "People are going be stunned, floored and happy. They're going be happy, surprised, feel a lot of sadness, and hopefully understand what it is that's happened in Carrie's life."

Parker also revealed she spent 18 months trying to persuade her former co-stars - Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall - to sign up for the movie after the show ended in 2004.

She added: "It took me a year and a half to put this movie back together again. I never in a million years thought I could. Our goal was to get the four women on that set. Lo and behold, we did and it was thrilling."

The star also hinted at another movie if the first one is a success with fans.

Talking about the possibility of a sequel, she is quoted on website MSNBC.com as saying: "We'll see. We are back because of the good graces of the audience. They really are the determining factor."

'Sex and the City: The Movie' is released worldwide at the end of May.
