B Britain's Prince Charles has revealed he is "very interested" in Transylvania, because he has ancestral ties to the Romanian region. He said: "Transylvania is in my blood. I have family connections here and that's why I am very interested in this region." Charles' ancestral ties to the country stem from his great grandfather's cousin Queen Mary marrying the crown prince of Romania and ruling the country with her husband after World War I. During his trip to the region - his sixth in the last 10 years - Charles travelled to the village of Miclosoara, where he stayed in an 18th-century manor. He is involved in a variety of ecological farming projects in the area and in the neighbouring city of Sibiu. TAGS: Europe |
