Britain's Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall marked their third wedding anniversary by unveiling a Victorian railway carriage yesterday (09.04.08).
The couple, who were both dressed in tartan, visited the Scottish village of Ballater to reveal a replica of the 15-tonne carriage used by Queen Victoria to travel between Ballater and Windsor.
Charles - who was instrumental in helping bring the £450,000 project together - said: "I am thrilled that at last this project has come to fruition because it was seven years ago that I came to open the restored station, which had been looking quite sad for a long time.
"I have incredibly special memories of arriving and departing from here as a child.
"It is wonderful to see it brought back to life."
Fans turned up to catch a glimpse of the royal couple and Camilla was given flowers from well-wishers.
Despite looking a picture of happiness, sources claim the couple's marriage has hit a rocky patch.
The pair - who had an on/off love affair for 30 years before marrying in 2005 - have sparked concern because of the amount of time they are spending apart.
However, senior royal aides insist the couple couldn't be happier.
One said: "Their marriage has, without a shadow of a doubt, made the prince happier than anyone has seen him in years.
"Yes, they do spend time apart, but they have always been very independent like that.
"As for rows - well, what couple doesn't disagree from time to time? To suggest that their marriage is on the rocks is utter tosh."
