The royal equestrian champion revealed her rugby star boyfriend Mike Tindall, who she lives with in England's picturesque Gloucestershire region, has to make himself scarce when she goes into her tidying mode.

She said: "We have a cleaner, but I do go into cleaning frenzies where I start chucking everything out. So then Mike gets out of the house."

Zara, 26, added Mike has nicknamed her 'Monica', after Courteney Cox's 'Friends' character Monica Gellar, who was renowned for her love of cleaning and housework.

During an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, she laughed "Mike calls me Monica because of my cleaning habits!"

Zara, who was named 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, also revealed Mike is a great housemate because he is relaxed.

She said: "Mike is very laid-back - he's practically horizontal. He's quite good to live with as long as he's getting his food. He doesn't cook. I'm threatening to send him on cooking lessons, but it hasn't happened yet!"
