'Behind the Frames'- a unique exhibition organised at the 38th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, showcases the equipment used in the production of Indian Cinema in the 1920s and 1930s.

The exhibition has been organised on the sidelines of the IFFI by the Films Division of the Government of India.

Indian cinema is almost 103 years old, yet very little is known about production of Indian Cinema in its early years.

The Films Division of India, established in 1948, has maintained a record of the history of the Indian Cinema.

"Our prime endeavour in organising this exhibition is to show people the kind of equipment that was used for filmmaking during the 1920s and 1930s; like the camera equipment, recording equipment and editing equipment, and to realise how far ahead in technology we are today", says A. K. Bir, a cinematographer.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunsi in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Kuldeep Sinha, the Chief Producer of Films Division, Government of India.

Sinha said: "It will be a great experience for everyone who would like to view this."

He said it would specially be of interest to students who would like to know the history of filmmaking and how it started, the kind of equipment that were used and also the innovative approach, the technological marvels and the graduation of technology into a sophisticated form.

On display are 35 mm Mitchell cameras, metal blimp camera, 16mm Bolex cameras, ARRI 435 cameras, Aton and BL cameras, Eclair NPR camera, zoom lenses and more.

"Behind the Frames" is certainly a delight for cine buffs. (ANI)
