Courtney Love's 15-year-old daughter Frances Bean Cobain could have become the victim of an abortion if the singer's manager and staff had their way, a new book claims.

Danny Goldberg, a former CEO of Warner Brothers Records who was a manager for Cobain's band Nirvana revealed the abortion controversy in his new book 'Bumping Into Geniuses,' a memoir about the music business.

Goldberg claims he and some of Love's handlers were worried about her drug use during the pregnancy and they reportedly tried to intervene and urge her to have an abortion.

The staff arranged a meeting with a physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's chemical dependency program.

The doctor 'tried to give clinical advice, suggesting to Courtney that it was not a great idea to have a baby while dealing with addiction,' Goldberg wrote.

However, the idea of abortion outraged Love.

" 'You're not telling me to have a [bleep]-ing abortion, are you?' asked Courtney, her voice rising with her trademark hostile whine. 'I mean I'm pro-choice, but that doesn't mean that anyone has the right to tell me to have a [bleep] ing abortion,' The New York Post quoted Goldberg, as stating in the book.

"[He] suggested that it might not be safe for the baby, and Courtney, who was only six weeks pregnant, went into a confrontational mode. 'Is that a medical fact, or is that just your opinion? I want to see it in a medical book.'

"She was interested in medical facts, not a sermon. [He] sheepishly acknowledged that at this early stage of pregnancy a woman could discontinue heroin use with no physical or psychological damage to the foetus. Courtney looked triumphant as she towered over the doctor seated at his desk," he added.

Love eventually stopped using heroin and Frances was born in perfect health on August 1992.

Love had no comment on the contents of the book.

In an interview last year, Frances Bean said: "People are fascinated by me, but I haven't done anything . . . I'm not my parents."

Goldberg currently manages Love and his book is slated to hit stores in September. (ANI)
