Washington, May 20 : John Cusack has signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's thriller '2012'.

John Cusack has signed on to star in Roland Emmerich's thriller '2012'.

Also in talks to star in the Columbia Pictures movie is Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The pic's title refers to the end days of human civilization as foretold by the ancient Mayan calendar.

Emmerich will be directing from a screenplay he penned with Harald Kloser, reports Variety.

The screenplay was bought by Sony in February this year.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in July in Los Angeles, barring a Screen Actors Guild strike.

Mark Gordon, Kloser and Larry Franco are producing, with Emmerich on as exec producer. (ANI)
