Harrison Ford doesn’t care about the critics’ response to the new ‘Indiana Jones’ movie.

Speaking at the world premiere of ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ in Cannes, France, the 65-year-old actor insisted he only values his fans’ opinions.

He said: “It is not unusual for something that is popular to be disdained by some people. I work for the people who pay to get in - they are my customers. My focus is on providing the best experience I can.

"I am very gratified that there has been a consistent interest in this character and in these films."

Harrison – who was accompanied by girlfriend Calista Flockhart to the high-profile event – also revealed he was thrilled to attract a new generation of fans to his adventure-seeking archaeologist character.

He added: “I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to release a film now because for a couple of generations of people, young people have just been seeing this on DVD at home.

“Now they get the chance to see it in the cinema, where it’s meant to be seen. I’m very excited about this.”

The star-studded premiere saw a red carpet packed with Hollywood A-listers including the movie’s director Steven Spielberg and writer George Lucas, Harrison’s co-star Cate Blanchett, Christian Slater, Goldie Hawn, Natalie Portman, Salma Hayek and newly-reunited couple Billy Zane and Kelly Brook.

‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ opens in cinemas worldwide this week.
