London, May 14 : English comedian John Cleese is divorcing his third wife, and will be paying her a whopping 77,500 pounds a month as settlement, it has emerged.

However, the 68-year-old, who had separated from his wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger four months ago after 15 years of marriage, managed to have a laugh as he left court on May 13, saying that the divorce is "worth every penny."
"It's going to be very, very expensive - but it will be worth every penny," The Sun quoted him as saying.
As per the demands of Eichelberger's lawyer, Cleese has been asked to provide her with two houses, 900,000 pounds a-year maintenance, and half his earnings since 1992.
In order to satisfy the demands, The Monty Python and Fawlty Towers legend, has to sell their 8.25 million pounds ranch in Santa Barbara, California.
Eichelberger, who is a psychotherapist, had her lawyer tell the local court that she has no money and that Cleese is paying her no support.
"It puzzled me how she could stay at the Carlyle Hotel in a £600-a-night room," Cleese said.
He argued that he earns far less than she is claiming, saying her demands are based on the "banner year" when he filmed Shrek - voicing the King - and made money from a property sale.
