I lived for several years on the Japanese island of Okinawa. It is a tropical island setting with a wealth of beauty and lots of things to do. We lived on the side of a mountain that overlooked the Pacific Ocean. The beauty that we were able to observe from there was breathtaking.

There were a lot of enjoyable things about living in Okinawa, but one of the things that I enjoyed most was learning to scuba dive. The island itself is a coral reef island so it is surrounded by all different types of coral - different colors, different shapes. There are also dozens of varieties of tropical fish. And the water was as clear as a bell. Even from the surface, by wearing a mask, you could see all of the beautiful sea life that was thirty or forty feet down.

Michael DeMarco, MS, is a psychotherapist who works with those whose gender isnt always as clear cut as it is for many of us. Some of his clients are born with the genitals of both sexes, to differing degrees, and some are born with the genitals of one sex, but feel like they have been assigned the wrong sexual organs. This is a very complex issue and I must thank Mr. DeMarco for taking the time to answer my questions while he works on his doctoral dissertation.

This is the experiences of a woman who has had ECT and has contributed to the information available for other patients facing the same decisions.

Julie Lawrence is a woman who has experienced electroconvulsive therapy. Because of her experiences, she has a website that can help patients make an informed decision about whether or not to have a shock treatment. Although her experiences are clearly negative, I think you will find her website very informative and as unbiased as possible. Please remember, her opinions are just that - hers!

Regardless, I think shes a class act. I think youll agree. Her website is: http://www.ect.org
