I accept the criticism about the exact meaning of atheism; what you have not mentioned yet is actually the fact that there has been an atheist president in US in the past, but in order to make my point (well, whatever it was), it was better to leave those things untouched in the article.

Actually, "atheist" is used more commonly to just mean "doesn't believe in god". Not "strongly denies against any and all proof that there is no god".
Great article though, it's a worry as someone outside the US looking in just how religious the USA seems to be.

I know this is nitpicky, but agnostics aren't atheists, they admit they don't know the answers, whereas atheism is positive there is no god.
