Drinkers are currently banned from lighting up in bars in the US state, but up to 100 establishments in the area are now taking advantage of a loophole which allows them to smoke if they are in character during a theatrical production.

Many customers in the bars, some of which feature signs including 'Stage Door', are dressing up in costume to enforce the loophole.
