Pregnant Nolan Yekum, from Papua New Guinea, was found guilty of sorcery and was strung up in a noose.

But she managed to free herself while at the same time giving birth to a healthy baby girl.

Nolan and her husband Paul had been hauled from their home and hung from a tree by tribesmen suspecting them of witchcraft involvement in the death of a neighbour.

Paul said later: "We managed to loosen the noose to get our feet on the ground. We were able to free ourselves.

"My wife, who was about seven months pregnant, delivered the baby while struggling to free herself.

"It was a painful experience for me and her."
