Jonathan Roberts, 57, and wife Jacqueline, 54, were stuck standing on a packed London commuter train when the conductor invited them to sit in two spare first class spaces.

They sat next to each other on seat numbers five and six and began a romance which ended in marriage a year later - complete with a train shaped cake.

Physiotherapist Jacqueline, who rescued the chairs from a train refurbishment, said: "They will go next to a window in our front room to remind us of the day we first met." The couple wore their wedding outfits as they were presented with the seats at a special ceremony next to London's Waterloo station.
