Polish paramedics are taking to the street on bicycles to combat traffic problems.

The medieval city of Krakow often becomes gridlocked with vehicles so specially designed bikes, complete with blue flashing lights, will now by used in an emergency.

The cycles will also be equipped with a selection of medicines and lightweight devices for emergency first aid. Ambulance worker Jakub Grochowski said: "There are many times when the only way to get to an emergency has been by bike."
