Washington/Crawford, Dec 29 : The Pentagon and the White House have said that Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is secure despite the political turmoil in Pakistan following the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
Pentagon spokesman Colonel Gary Keck said: "Our assessment is that the Pakistani nuclear arsenal is under control. At this time, we have no need for concern".
Meanwhile, in Crawford Texas, White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said he was confident that Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is secure and was not at risk of falling into the hands of extremists.
"There have been discussions with the Pakistan army chief General Ashfaq Kayani on what we can do to help on the political and security front in Pakistan," Stanzel added.
According to American defence officials, Pakistan's nuclear weapons remain securely under the control of the Pakistani military.(ANI)
