More names announced for Live 8

More acts have been announced for the Live 8 charity event in July. US band Green Day are set to play the Berlin leg of the tour alongside artists including Lauryn Hill, Brian Wilson and Crosby Stills and Nash.

The event has been organised to mimic the Live Aid event from 1985 organised by former Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof, which spawned the Band Aid Trust.

The purpose of the event is to pressurise world leaders at the G8 summit to cancel world debt and provide more aid budgets for third world countries.

Geldof has requested the public to march to the G8 summit at Murrayfield in Edingburgh after the final concert which includes Travis, Snow Patrol and Dido in the line-up.

However, it isn't just musicians who want to get in on the action. Footballer David Beckham is set to introduce pop star Robbie Williams' performance.

The tour will go through London, Paris, Berlin, Rome and Philadelphia and Edinburgh. Money raised will go to the Prince's Trust, covering the costs of the concerts and the Band Aid Trust
