Christianity vs. Islam Controversy Brewing in Texas

There is another Christianity vs. Islam controversy brewing: the location is Texas. In Austin, the Texas Board of Education (TEA) will be putting forth a resolution that condemns a positive bias toward Islam, and a negative bias toward Christianity.

Gary Scharrer of the San Antonio Express News reported, "the resolution contends to glorify Islam with 'superlatives' downsizing Christianity with pejoratives."

Basically, the Christians are the bad guys, and are always the perpetrators in the killing of innocent people.

Islam is seen as the victim, and the one being killed, not doing the killing. If this was the case, September 11th, 2001 would not have happened.

As Gary Scharrer points out in the article--this is a "social conservative" issue.

Without-a-doubt, there is already polarisation of Christian, American vs. Islam and Middle Eastern values. The resolution only adds to the polarisation: it does so because a good number of Americans for example: view the building of a Islamic Cultural Center in a negative light, and view Ground zero and area around Ground Zero hallowed Ground.

Social Conservatives are about tradition and our American Values. They are, or most of them are about our Puritan-Christian history, and the building of the foundation of our country and nations heritage.

Sharia Law is not our heritage.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness are our traditional foundations and values.

All schools, not just schools in Texas, should be teaching a fair view of all religions. Liberals should also treat Christians, and defend Christian like they do Islam.

We, conservatives, myself included, need to treat Islam as we would also treat our own religion and be fair.

So I leave you with this (from the show NCIS): When Officer Ziva David is at the hospital with a Muslim suspect, and he is insulted by a deputy, she says, "When you insult his religion, you insult mine and your own."

Before we are quick to judge one another, we need to remember where our history and our religious backgrounds originated from - we are all traced back to Abraham.

Not all Christians are bad and not all Muslims are bad: However, I do not support the building of a mosque at ground zero; I do not support having a bias toward any religion in text book. We should be teaching a balanced look at all the religions in the world, and we should be teaching our young people the correct history of our nation, the world, and our cultural values.

Our nation’s, and each individual state’s schools should not be teaching a revisionist history.
